Congratulations to the Burnaby Community Services Society for raising charitable funds above your target! The $103,315 your organization raised for the homeless and the financially challenged in Burnaby is commendable and praise worthy.
Proper nourishment in a safe, secure, and inclusive environment is paramount when it comes to sustaining one's mental and physical health. For most of us, it’s difficult to fathom that basic survival needs become a luxury for hundreds of people here locally but also for countless others across the nation. We at Vancouver Premium Packaging are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication provided by the Burnaby Community Services Society in organizing the sixth annual “The Coldest Night of The Year” event. Thank you for allowing us the privilege to participate in your effort to better the lives of others less fortunate.
Mike Hurely, the Mayor of Burnaby, said it best in his inspiring video from his Facebook post:
Here’s a short snippet from the Burnaby Community Services Society that summarizes the “Coldest Night of The Year” campaign. https://cnoy.org/homelessness
"Together, we're collecting donations that fund critical services at a local charity partner who serves and supports vulnerable families and individuals in our CNOY community.
We walk through the cold and dark on February 26, 2022, to declare our concern for people who have no home and take shelter in nooks and crannies.
We walk for those whose days are a battle to house and feed their families and whose nights are filled with fear and frustration.
We walk for those driven from home by violence and abuse. And we walk for people overwhelmed by isolation, guilt, and despair.
We walk humbly, realizing that anyone can lose their footing and then lose everything else.
Each step we take brings someone closer to safety, health, and home, as together, we raise funds for organizations whose commitment and work transforms peoples' lives. "https://cnoy.org/homelessness
Our Coldest Night of the Year charity partners:
Welcome people experiencing homelessness, providing respite from constant wandering, wondering, and watching one's back.
Nourish body and soul with food for all who need it and provided in a welcoming and dignified manner.
Foster healing through counseling, mental health assistance and other connections.
Support families at great risk of losing their housing, to prevent that downward descent.
Provide safe shelter and support to women, children, and youth fleeing violence at home.
Help people find pathways to permanent housing, employment, and futures.
For anyone still interested in donating to this great cause, it’s still not too late as they are open for donations up to and including March 31st, 2022. Please go to:
When you make a donation, you will receive an email confirming your donation. For donations over $20, a tax receipt will also be issued. If you are able, please consider donating as there is no minimum and as they say, “every little bit counts”. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness and not have to worry about the basic necessities of life.
